Mr Lakkol has taken great care in explaining all aspects of my surgery. The treatment I received has been exemplary

NHS patient at Royal Derby Hospital

Mr Lakkol performed spinal decompression surgery on me after months of back pain and deterioration of movement in my legs. From the first consultation he was able to give me hope and confidence in the long term effect of the surgery while also ensuring that I was aware of the importance and seriousness of my condition. I could not have found a better person to take me through the process and perform the surgery.

Patient

After suffering four years of agonising back pain with burning pins and needles and numbness in my legs and back, I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis and eventually referred to Mr Sandesh Lakkol at Royal Derby Hospital where we had a lengthy discussion about the options available. I opted for the spinal decompression procedure. At the age of 82 it was the best decision I have ever made. Before, I was restricted to walking maybe 100 yards at most before I had to take a rest. Now, four months after the operation, I can walk any distance, pain free! My back is now as it was 10-20 years ago. This operation has given me a new life-style and I would recommend having this procedure done to anyone in this predicament. The are more positives than negatives to consider.

Mr Lakkol has operated on my spine (spinal decompression) to enable me to walk without pain in my legs. The pain was very bad and I could not walk without the help of a walker and had been confined to my home. Even getting in and out of a car was too painful. Since the operation 6 weeks ago I have been able to walk around the house unaided and without pain in my legs. The back pain is still very bad but the immense relief from the leg pain is wonderful. I am hopeful that the recovery will continue . Truly thankful to Mr Lakkol Gwendoline Downing Age 83
